Fahrenheit 451 pp. 3-21

The novel so far started off really good but it got confusing as kept reading. One question that I have is why does Montag laugh about everything Clarisse says? What I find confusing is why do these firemen even exists and why do they burn things? Well Montag and his wife are distant from each other. The author conveys this by talking about how Montag imagines his wife waiting for him in bed because it had been a while this had happened. This shows there distanced because a normal married couple will wait for each other daily. Also the way they talk to each other show how they don’t really have good communication going on.
