Iliad Review Stanzas 1-9
So far we have read 9 stanzas. The important things that have happened so far are:
Achilles is mad
Achilles fights with Agamemnon
There’s a death scene in stanza 1
Agamemnon toke priests daughter
Priest wants daughter back
Priest brings offerings and asked for daughter but Agamemnon refuses to give her back
Achilles prays to Apollo to send the pledge to Greeks
Apollo comes and kills lots of Greeks
Silver bow
Zeus wants Agamemnon and Achilles to fight
Daughter is a war prize
Achilles receives a message from Hera to gather troops and
Lots of men have died
Agamemnon soldiers want him to return daughter
Why is Apollo so mad?
Calchas talks to Achilles
Calchas wants Achilles protection when he tells everyone about Apollo’s anger
Achilles tells Calchas to have courage
Achilles decides that he will protect Calchas
The only way to make god happy is by sacrificing bulls
